AOC Demands ‘Conservative News’ Be Regulated

( – Far-left Democrat US Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), often referred to as AOC, has called for regulating conservative news organizations such as Fox News.

AOC spoke in an interview with Jen Psaki, the former press secretary of President Joe Biden’s White House, who since March has hosted the MSNBC program “Inside with Jen Psaki.”

The interview came after Fox News agreed last week to pay Dominion Voting Systems a settlement of $787.5 million for incorrect claims about machine voting fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

The settlement was reached just minutes before the defamation trial’s scheduled start based on a Dominion lawsuit.

Earlier this week, on Monday, Fox News fired one of its most famous faces, journalist Tucker Carlson, who had hosted his show “Tucker Carlson Tonight” since 2016.

The Fox management did not connect Carlson’s firing with the settlement with Dominion Voting Systems.

In her interview with Psaki, Ocasio Cortez was asked what she thought of the massive defamation lawsuit deal.

“We have very real issues with what is permissible on air and we saw that with January 6th, and we saw that in the lead up to January 6th,” AOC responded, as cited by The Daily Caller.

“And how we navigate questions not just of freedom of speech but also accountability for incitement of violence. These are, this is the line that we have to really explore through law as well,” she insisted.

The far-left New York congresswoman accused Tucker Carlson and other conservative commentators of inciting violence. That is why, in her view, they ought to be subjected to government regulation.

“Do you think media organizations or social media platforms should be accountable for the role, for being platforms for incitement?” Biden’s former press secretary Psaki asked further, referring to Tucker Carlson and his firing.

“I believe that when it comes to broadcast television like Fox News, these are subject to federal law, federal regulation in terms of what’s allowed on air and what isn’t,” argued AOC.

“And when you look at what Tucker Carlson and what some of these other folks on Fox do, it is very, very clearly incitement of violence, very clearly incitement of violence,” Ocasio-Cortez declared.

AOC leads a far-left group of Democrats in the US House of Representatives called “the Squad,” which has grown in number since the 2022 midterm election.
