Army Recruit Kills Soldiers on Firing Range

( – BREAKING NOW: Proving once again that gun violence is not a uniquely American problem, a terrible incident has happened at a military firing range in Japan where a soldier trainee, who is only 18 years old, is reported to have used his rifle to shoot at three of his comrades, resulting in the death of two.

The young soldier was apprehended by authorities in the Gifu prefecture, located in central Japan, under the suspicion of attempted murder.

Eyewitnesses report that the incident occurred during a shooting drill at the Hino Kihon firing range. One of the three individuals injured in the incident is a soldier aged 25.

Despite Japan’s well-known reputation for safety, the country has unfortunately been confronting a surge of notable violent incidents in recent years.

There have been various types of assaults, including shooting incidents, spontaneous knife attacks in subway systems, and deliberate arson attacks. An escalating apprehension is brewing over the increase in homemade firearms and explosives.

A concerning incident occurred in April when a pipe bomb, thrown by a suspect, nearly hit Prime Minister Fumio Kishida at a political campaign event.

Last year, in July 2022, former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe became a victim of assassination by an assailant wielding a homemade firearm. Similarly, just a month ago, an individual was taken into custody after reportedly shooting and killing two police officers following the fatal stabbing of two women in the Nagano prefecture.
