(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – In what appears to be a clear victory for gun rights, an East Texas liquor store owner shot and killed a man who was in the process of robbing the store, according to the San Jacinto County Sheriff.
The entire incident was captured by store security cameras and was reviewed by law enforcement.
The owner of Frank’s Liquor Store in Coldspring decided to spend the night at the store as he was too tired to drive home, and his wife was away.
In the early hours of Wednesday morning, the owner was awakened by the sound of a break-in.
The burglar entered the store through a drive-through window and started taking items.
The store owner confronted the thief in a storage room and demanded that the suspect show his hands.
Fearing for his safety, the store owner fired a single shot, hitting the suspect in the shoulder and causing spinal damage. The suspect was transported to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
After reviewing the security footage, the sheriff stated that the store owner was not arrested in relation to the shooting and that a grand jury would review the case as standard procedure.
However, it appears to be a justified shooting as per Texas law, which allows a business owner to use deadly force if they believe their life or severe bodily injury is in danger and there is no obligation to retreat.
