(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – President Joe Biden has issued a demand for gas stations which he believes will help reign in the skyrocketing gas prices and the overall spiking inflation associated with them – even as it remains highly unlikely that anyone is going to heed his call.
In his address last week, Biden invoked global political developments in what appeared like a last-ditch attempt to stem the upswing in gas prices right at the onset of the summer.
He insisted that Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, which began on February 24 and has lasted for more than four months now, with the Russians suffering humiliating losses, is primarily to blame for the staggering hike in gas prices in the United States.
Hence, he urged America’s price-setters to take into account the international factors when charging more at gas stations across the nation.
“To the companies running gas stations and setting those prices at the pump, this is a time of war, global peril, Ukraine,” Biden stated as he spoke from his well-known White House imitation set across the street from the actual White House.
“These are not normal times. Bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you are paying for the product. Do it now. Do it today,” the President urged further, apparently hoping that someone is going to listen to him rather than follow market mechanisms.
Biden did note that international oil prices have declined slightly in recent days.
However, he spoke indignantly about the fact that gas prices throughout the United States haven’t followed suit.
Biden stressed that “some” gas retailers haven’t actually “reduced their prices at all,” not even a little bit.
In his speech, Biden also urged Congress to adopt legislation for a federal gas tax holiday because that could contribute to reducing prices at the pump – and he argued that by doing so, “I’m doing my part.”
Biden then sang his already well-known tune about how it is Russia’s leader Putin and his war in Ukraine that has caused gas prices to shoot up. He once again insisted that the inflation hitting the American consumer is the price for stopping Putin and defending freedom in Europe.
According to a recent public opinion poll, 52% of Americans blame Joe Biden’s policies for the skyrocketing gas prices, while just 11% think those are Putin’s fault.
