(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – In another outrageous act to all patriots committed at its very end, President Joe Biden’s administration takes the controversial step of extending Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for 850,000 illegal and quasi-legal migrants.

This decision, led by outgoing border chief Alejandro Mayorkas, gives migrants a temporary reprieve in a political climate already fraught with debates about border security and immigration enforcement.
President Joe Biden’s border chief, Alejandro Mayorkas, has extended the TPS amnesty until 2026, providing a temporary safe haven for 850,000 migrants.
These include 234,000 individuals from El Salvador and 600,000 from Venezuela. This decision, justified by various crises in their home countries, reflects Biden’s humanitarian perspective on immigration, according to a report by The Free Republic.
Mayorkas defends the extension citing geological and weather events in El Salvador and the severe humanitarian crises under the Maduro regime in Venezuela.
He mentions “bad weather” as a reason for not repatriating these migrants, further sparking criticism from those concerned about its implications on immigration enforcement.
Critics argue that this amnesty undermines immigration enforcement and indirectly supports foreign governments by allowing migrants to work and send money home.
Many worry it benefits the Maduro regime by permitting political opponents to remain in the U.S.
Mayorkas stated, “After reviewing the country conditions in Venezuela… an 18-month TPS extension is warranted due to the severe humanitarian emergency.”
This policy has been supported by business and ethnic lobbies, who highlight the economic and community contributions of these migrants.
However, the growing number of migrants with TPS, now tripling to about one million under Mayorkas, highlights concerns about the long-term sustainability of this approach.
The announcement also extends TPS for migrants from Ukraine and Sudan, broadening the scope of protective measures.
Some suggest this tactic might strategically favor Trump’s administration, delaying key decisions on the amnesty that will expire in 2026, giving them time to prepare more robust policies.
Mark Krikorian, head of the Center for Immigration Studies, remarked on the situation: “This way, they’ll deal with it later in the administration.”
Such maneuvers highlight the opaque strategies employed in a highly politicized immigration debate.
With El Salvador’s economy improving and political shifts expected to follow these administrative measures, the implications of extending TPS reach far beyond current crises.
The recent extension is a reflection of Biden’s immigration policy priorities, while debate continues over its political expediency and the impact on American workers.
