(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – In a shocking revelation, a report has disclosed that Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff have contributed several thousand dollars to a Washington, D.C., pro-BLM nonprofit that has supported sanctuary city legislation and reducing police presence.
In 2023, Harris and Emhoff donated $1,000 to Legal Aid DC, a progressive legal organization that has advocated for defunding the police and has backed a sanctuary bill in Washington, D.C., as revealed by the couple’s federal tax returns, initially reported by The Washington Examiner.
They had previously contributed the same amount to the group in 2021, The Daily Caller reports.
Legal Aid DC describes itself on its website as Washington, D.C.’s “oldest and largest civil legal services organization.”
This organization represents economically disadvantaged clients and primarily focuses on housing law, and it has a longstanding history of leftist advocacy.
During the Black Lives Matter protests in June 2020, which shook the nation, the organization issued a statement expressing solidarity with the protestors and described violence against Black Americans as a “manifestation of our society’s persistent, deep-seated racism.”
That same month, an attorney representing Legal Aid DC advocated for a reduction in the number of police officers in Washington, D.C.
In December 2020, the group openly supported the Sanctuary Values Act, a local bill that aims to prevent collaboration between Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and local authorities by prohibiting information sharing and denying deportation officers access to local jails.
Legal Aid DC, in their endorsement of this bill, accused ICE of instilling “terror” in the immigrant community.
These donations have been made public as Harris, now viewed as the likely Democratic presidential candidate, seeks to recalibrate her stance on border security and portray herself as a strong law enforcement figure.
Harris recently released a campaign advertisement asserting her support for increasing the number of Border Patrol agents, and her supporters have been keen to diminish her perceived role as the “border czar” in the Biden administration—a position tasked with addressing the root causes of illegal migration from Central America.
Previously, as a senator, Harris resisted efforts to augment the number of Border Patrol agents during the Trump administration, likened ICE to the Ku Klux Klan, criticized President Donald Trump’s border wall initiative as a “vanity project,” and openly supported the decriminalization of illegal border crossings, according to an examination of her immigration stance.
On Tuesday, she announced Democratic Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her vice-presidential candidate.
Walz has demonstrated a liberal stance on immigration issues, having endorsed state-funded health care and tuition-free college for illegal migrants, authorized driver’s licenses for undocumented individuals, and supported the designation of Minnesota as a sanctuary state.
