Blood in the Streets: 9 Dead; 43 Wounded

(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – Over the Memorial Day weekend, nine people died, and at least 43 got injured in a series of shootings in Chicago. This happened right after the city’s Mayor, Brandon Johnson, announced a new safety plan.

Mayor Johnson shared his new safety plan on Thursday, hoping to reduce violence and support youth programs with millions of dollars, according to ABC 7 Chicago.

However, the very next day, violent incidents started taking place. In two separate incidents, two toddlers accidentally shot themselves after finding guns on Saturday, WGN-TV reported. One kid hit their forearm, the other their hand. Thankfully, both are expected to recover.

Other carnage included the following.

Three teenagers, aged 14, 15, and 17, were also among those who got injured. Three people were shot while standing on a sidewalk early on Monday, according to the police.

In Lakeview, a northside neighborhood of Chicago, five people, including a 35-year-old man named William Hair, were shot over the weekend. Despite his best friend’s attempts to save him by performing CPR, William sadly didn’t survive.

In another incident, a 35-year-old man was killed and a 30-year-old woman seriously injured in West Garfield Park, on the city’s west side. Someone fired at them while they were sitting in a parked car early Sunday morning. The police are still investigating.

Earlier on the same day, three men were shot in Lakeview. As reported by NBC Chicago, one of them is in serious condition, while the other two are doing well.

A 20-year-old man was killed in Washington Heights around half past midnight. The police reported that two men approached him, and at least one shot him multiple times. He died on the spot.

A 26-year-old man was also shot on Saturday night while leaving a gas station in Woodlawn. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the man didn’t survive his injuries. The shooter was in a white SUV.

Earlier that day, four people were shot in a drive-by shooting. A 69-year-old woman was found injured in a nearby vehicle and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other three men, aged 55, 34, and 26, are in good condition.

Another man was also killed in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on Saturday morning. He was believed to be between 25 and 30 years old and died from multiple gunshot wounds at the hospital.

Early Saturday morning, a 22-year-old man named Johnathan Salgado was shot in the chest. He later died at the hospital.

Just before 3 a.m., two people were shot in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood. A 37-year-old man didn’t survive his injuries.

Close to 1 a.m., a 33-year-old man was found dead in Auburn Gresham. He had been shot in the armpit.

Lastly, a cop from Michigan accidentally fired his gun and injured himself and another man.

Sadly, this isn’t new for Chicago. The previous weekend, 23 people were shot, and one person died. The police continue to investigate all these incidents.
