Trump has begun his second term with an impressive 53% approval rating as revealed by a CBS News/YouGov poll.

This figure marks the highest approval rating of either term in office, showcasing Trump’s ability to secure substantial support among Americans despite ongoing political debates.

The poll involved 2,175 American adults with a margin of error of +/- 2.5 points, highlighting Trump’s continued appeal.

While 47% of respondents expressed disapproval of Trump’s performance, the current 53% approval surpasses any rating during his first term.

Seventy percent of those surveyed believe President Trump is fulfilling his campaign promises, reflecting the public’s recognition of his consistency.

Despite this, 66% of Americans feel the administration hasn’t focused enough on reducing prices, a concern echoed by nearly half of the Republicans polled.

“Just three weeks into his second term, our CBS poll finds that a majority of Americans, 53%, approve of the job he’s doing. That’s a better approval number than he ever reached during his first term in the White House,” said CBS journalist Margaret Brennan, cited by Mediaite.

Partisan lines divide Americans, with the Gallup poll showing a 91% Republican approval compared to 6% from Democrats and 46% from independents.

In 2017, only 40% approved of Trump’s performance, indicating growing support over the years.

Nevertheless, opinions on tariffs remain mixed.

Fifty-six percent support the 10% tariffs on China, but many oppose higher tariffs on Mexico and Canada.

Additionally, 50% of Americans, and an impressive 74% of Republicans, support Elon Musk’s influence on government operations.

“He’s doing in the eyes of the public what he said he would do in the campaign. There’s political value in that. In fact, 70% of people say he’s doing what he promised. That’s whether they approve of him or not,” noted Anthony Salvanto, the CBS News’ director for elections and surveys.

Trump’s early approval ratings suggest flexibility compared to his first term, but the nation’s polarized views persist.

As he navigates his second term, these insights on public sentiment may have significant implications for his governance strategy.
