In response to rising crime linked to illegal aliens, Texas has taken the decisive step with Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham at the helm.
This move, reflecting Texas’s unwavering commitment to border security, has the potential to change the landscape of immigration enforcement in America.
The ranch, located in rural Starr County in the Rio Grande Valley, was purchased last month specifically for this initiative.
It lacks paved roads and has limited local resources but is strategically positioned near airports and a river bridge, making it a suitable location for these new facilities.
Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham is confident about the potential of this site, stating, “We feel like this is actually very well-located.”
Buckingham made the offer to President-elect Donald Trump on November 14, showcasing Texas’s readiness to partner with the federal administration.
The offer underscores the ideological divide between state governments regarding Trump’s immigration policies.
Texas has long supported strong border security measures, including establishing razor-wire barriers and arresting illegal border crossers.
The proposed “Jocelyn Initiative,” named after Jocelyn Nungaray, a young girl allegedly killed by illegal immigrants, honors her memory by seeking justice.
The project aims to process and deport violent criminals swiftly. Jocelyn’s family supports this initiative, with her grandmother expressing, “We’re taking back hope so that no other families go through what we have.”
The project’s scope may extend beyond Texas, as Trump plans to launch the largest mass deportation operation in history, The New York Post notes in a report.
However, the transition team has yet to confirm acceptance of the land offer, though they acknowledge plans for mass deportations.
Karoline Leavitt, a Trump advocate, emphasized their intentions by saying, “On day one, President Trump will marshal every lever of power to secure the border.”
With an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants in the U.S., challenges of identification and detention persist.
Despite this, Texas remains steadfast in its support for strong border actions, spending $10 billion under Governor Greg Abbott on securing the border.
Buckingham is committed to ensuring the readiness of Texas’s land resources, affirming that the state is “fully prepared” for any federal initiative.
We WILL gain complete operational control of our southern border.
