BREAKING: 33 Shot; 5 Dead

( – At least 33 people have been injured by gunfire in Democrat-run Chicago this weekend, with five succumbing to their injuries, in a series of violent incidents, as reported by the police.

On Friday evening, a shooting incident in the Douglas neighborhood resulted in injuries to two teenagers and a 12-year-old boy in separate but related attacks, reports WLS, cited by ABC7 Chicago.

The initial incident occurred at approximately 9:20 p.m. on the 500 block of East 31st Street, where an assailant, operating from a silver sedan, launched gunfire, hitting the 12-year-old who was with a group and a 15-year-old girl seated in a vehicle.

Authorities confirmed that the boy sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the leg and received medical attention at Comer Children’s Hospital, while the girl suffered several gunshot injuries to her back and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center; both were reported in good condition.

Shortly after, a 16-year-old boy was shot about a half-mile away while in a fast food restaurant’s parking lot on the 3400 block of South King Drive, around 10:15 p.m.

The teen, who was struck in the abdomen, was also transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. No suspects have been apprehended in connection with these shootings.

The violence persisted into Saturday, with a fatal shooting on the North Side. According to police, the incident took place near West Rogers Park on Devon Avenue around 9:45 p.m. A 31-year-old man was ambushed while walking on the sidewalk by an unidentified shooter.

He was later pronounced dead at a hospital. As of now, no arrests have been made, and Area Three detectives are continuing their investigation.

An additional fatality occurred in the Woodlawn area on Saturday. A male, whose age was not immediately disclosed, was on a sidewalk in the 6600 block of South Rhodes Avenue at approximately 5:15 p.m. when he was shot in the chest. He was declared dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center, with no suspects in custody.

On Sunday, a shooting in Englewood left three wounded. The event unfolded around 12:38 a.m. on Elizabeth Street near 56th Street, where a confrontation between two groups led to gunfire.

A 39-year-old man sustained a minor arm injury, a 23-year-old woman was shot in the back and is in fair condition, and another 39-year-old man was injured in the hand; he is expected to recover fully.

Later, around 3:36 a.m., an 18-year-old woman was fatally shot while sitting in a parked car on the 1300 block of West 72nd Street near Ada Street.

At about the same time, a 29-year-old man was shot in the right calf in an alley near Portillo’s in the River North area. He received medical care at Rush Hospital and was in good condition. No arrests have been made regarding these incidents.

In a related event around 8:39 a.m., police discovered a 36-year-old man with gunshot wounds in an alley in the 700-block of 66th near Halsted Street in Englewood. He later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. The CPD is conducting a homicide investigation related to his death.

Police noted that the previous weekend witnessed at least 19 shooting incidents, with two fatalities.
