(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – BREAKING NOW: The federal judge hearing arguments concerning the potential release to the public of the FBI affidavit used to obtain the search warrant that was the legal justification for the search of former President Donald Trump’s home and office at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, says he is inclined to make public at least some portions of the affidavit.
As the New York Post frames what has taken place today in the courtroom:
“A Florida federal judge ruled Thursday that portions of the affidavit underpinning the FBI search of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate could likely be made public – despite objections from the Justice Department.
“West Palm Beach Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart — who signed off on the search of the 45th president’s home — said at the conclusion of a 90-minute hearing that ‘I believe — at least on my initial careful review of the affidavit — that there are portions that could be presumptively unsealed.’
“Reinhart gave federal prosecutors seven days to submit a list of requested redactions and added that a partially blacked-out version would likely be released at some point in the future. The judge added that the government will be given an opportunity to appeal if it doesn’t agree with his proposed redactions.” [emphasis added]
According to one criminal law expert with extensive experience in national security cases, the government is almost sure to appeal as it argued that releasing any portion of the affidavit would be detrimental to its investigation and potentially to national security.
