(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – BREAKING NOW: A fuel tanker truck fire that broke out beneath the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 (I-95) in Philadelphia has led to a significant portion of the highway caving in.
Footage from a local news helicopter has revealed multiple lanes of the highway collapsed into debris.
You can watch a video of what took place further down this post.
The incident took place just after 6 a.m. on Sunday at Cottman Avenue, directly below the I-95 overpass.
The entire stretch of the highway between the Woodhaven and Aramingo exits has been closed off.
Emergency response teams are diligently working to extinguish the fire. As of now, there’s no report of any casualties.
The exact contents of the truck, as well as the reason for the fire, remain unknown.
The intense heat from the fire has been causing manhole covers in the vicinity to burst open. Everyone is advised to steer clear of the area.
According to officials, the level of damage suggests this event will affect the region for a substantial period.
Dominick Mireles from the Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management stated, “Today’s going to be a long day. Obviously, with 95 northbound gone and southbound questionable, it’s going to be even longer.”
