(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – Republican US Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming has found nothing but praise for Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi while bashing the GOP’s potential victory in next week’s midterm elections.
Cheney, the daughter of former US Vice President Dick Cheney, is wrapping up her third term in the US House of Representatives.
In August, she lost the Republican primary in Wyoming by 37 points to Harriet Hageman, an ally of former President Donald Trump.
Cheney is probably the most prominent anti-Trump Republican and sits on Pelosi’s select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, storming of the US Capitol. Trump has routinely called her a “RINO” (“Republican in Name Only”).
In a PBS interview, the outgoing Wyoming US congresswoman condemned the recent incident in which a man broke into Nancy Pelosi’s home in San Francisco and fractured her husband’s skull with a hammer.
She then lauded the Democrat Speaker of the US House of Representatives for her leadership.
“I want to say a word about Speaker Pelosi. Everyone knows she is a liberal from San Francisco. I am a conservative from Wyoming. There are many, many issues, maybe most issues, on which we disagree. But I think that she is a tremendous leader,” Cheney declared.
“Violence has become part of our political discourse. That’s not who we are in this country…that is disgraceful and as Americans, we have to reject it,” she added, as cited by The National Review.
The Wyoming Republican then bashed her party by insisting that if the GOP wins the 2022 midterm elections and retakes the US House of Representatives, that would do more damage than good to the United States of America.
Cheney seemed notably worried by the prospects of having the present House Minority Leader, Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), replace Pelosi as the Speaker of the House.
She insisted a Republican majority in the House under McCarthy’s leadership would push America “down the path of extreme partisanship.”
“People just need to understand what it will mean to have a Republican majority in the House of Representatives,” Cheney stated.
“The people who will be running the House of Representatives in a Republican majority will give authority and power to some of the most radical members of the conference, and I don’t think that’s good for the country,” Dick Cheney’s daughter argued.
Her popularity with Republican voters has plummeted since she became the most vocal GOP critic of President Donald Trump after the 1/6 events at the US Capitol.
“[The upcoming midterm elections are a] fundamental fight for the soul of our country and not just the soul of the Republican Party,” Cheney declared in her interview.
