(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – In a clear sign that pro-Islamist terrorism leftist lunacy will not let up on US college campuses for a second school year in a row, the start of the 2024-2025 academic year at Columbia University has seen anti-Israel punks engage in new violent actions, including the destruction of property.
Demonstrations condemning Israel transpired at Columbia on Tuesday, featuring the defacement of a campus statue and the chanting of slogans advocating continued aggression against Israel.
The day saw the arrest of at least two demonstrators who forcefully entered the campus by breaching barricades at the entrance, National Review reports.
Protesters obstructed the primary gateway to the university, brandishing placards emblazoned with phrases such as “intifada,” “resist until victory,” and “to rebel is justified.”
These actions were orchestrated by the Columbia University Apartheid Divest group, which also called for student participation through flyers.
One such flyer provocatively stated, “Columbia University’s first day of class is funded by Israel’s bombing of every university in Gaza,” and urged, “Shut it down.”
In response to an inquiry from Fox News about the persistence of these demonstrations throughout the semester, a student remarked, “the rallies will not stop until Columbia has divested from its complicity in Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian people.”
By midday, the Alma Mater statue, a bronze landmark located at the steps of the Low Memorial Library, had been vandalized with red paint.
A group known as the Unity of Fields, describing itself as an “anti-imperialist propaganda front bringing the war home,” issued a series of demands on the platform X.
“This action is the first of many. We will not stop until the university fully divests from all forms of settler-colonial violence. Divestment is not an incrementalist goal. True divestment necessitates nothing short of the total collapse of the university structure and American empire itself. It is not possible for imperial spoils to remain so heavily concentrated in the metropole and its high-cultural repositories without the continuous suppression of all populations that resist the empire’s expansion; to divest from this is to undermine and eradicate America as we know it,” it wrote.
It also expressed solidarity with Palestinian resistance.
“This action is first and foremost an effort to extend the successes of the Palestinian resistance to the heart of the empire itself, to translate their resilience in Gaza to unrest and violence in America,” the group added.
The unfolding of these events comes shortly after a convocation ceremony where the Columbia University Apartheid Divest group distributed pamphlets endorsing Hamas and quoting Sheikh Saleh Al-Arouri, a leader within the designated terrorist group.
