(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – A bombshell report has now revealed that Democrat Ohio US Senator Sherrod Brown’s campaign accepted donations from a woman who had been dead for months.
The case has been referred to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) for investigation.
The records obtained exposed that Carol Ann Baker, a resident of Toledo, Ohio, passed away in December 2023.
Despite this, the Friends of Sherrod Brown campaign committee received at least two donations from Baker in May 2024, totaling $350.
Moreover, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose conducted a preliminary investigation, which included a signed affidavit from Baker’s widower confirming her death. The case was then handed over to the FEC.
Brown, a Democrat, is in a close reelection race against Republican Bernie Moreno. Although polls show Brown leading by five points, Republicans are aiming to flip his seat.
Head of investigations at the Ohio Secretary of State’s office Huan Yi said in an official request to the FEC, “Ohioans deserve absolute confidence in their elections. The purpose of this letter is to refer to your office potential violations of federal law for your investigation, as appropriate.”
Ohio’s investigation concluded in August 2024.
In addition, Dan Lushek, a spokesman for LaRose, stated, “Our office received a complaint identifying that the Friends of Sherrod Brown committee reported receiving two contributions from an individual that was confirmed to be deceased.”
They continued, “But, as that committee is a federal entity and not a filer with our office, we referred the complaint and our findings to the Federal Elections Commission for further action.”
The FEC affirmed that it could not comment on an ongoing investigation until it is concluded, while Baker’s family and Brown’s campaign did not respond to requests for comment.
On the contrary, Brown’s opponents were vocal about the situation.
Raegan McCarthy, press director for Bernie Moreno’s campaign, claimed, “Brown’s scheme to fund his campaign with contributions from dead people isn’t just creepy, it’s illegal. This conspiracy deserves more scrutiny. How far does it go?”
