(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is following in Elon Musk’s footsteps by creating a new “DOGE Task Force,” which intends to modernize state operations, eliminate hundreds of unnecessary jobs, and audit universities to ensure they are serving their true purpose.

DeSantis signed an executive order creating the DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) Task Force, inspired by similar efforts at the federal level led by Elon Musk during the Trump administration.
The task force will operate for one year and use artificial intelligence to examine government operations, payments, and contracts to ensure the efficient use of tax dollars.
“We are creating a state DOGE task force that will implement a multi-prong approach to eliminating bureaucratic bloat and modernizing our state government to best serve the people of Florida in the years ahead,” DeSantis announced.
A key focus of the initiative will be auditing and reviewing universities for operational and financial efficiency.
The Florida governor aims to remove wasteful Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs from university courses and emphasize a return to classical education.
“This is the DOGE-ing of our state university system, and I think it’s gonna be good for taxpayers and it’s ultimately gonna be good for students as well,” the governor explained.
Moreover, the initiative plans to eliminate hundreds of jobs and shut down around 70 state boards deemed obsolete or redundant.
DeSantis is also seeking compliance from local municipalities for audits, potentially through legislation, to address rising property taxes by identifying and curbing excessive local government spending.

“They’ve opted to increase their own budgets and even subject their citizens to higher taxes, such as higher property taxes to pay for these spending habits. I’m going to be looking for ways to bring people relief from that,” DeSantis stated.
While Democrats predictably criticize the move as political theater, DeSantis remains focused on his mission to streamline government and protect taxpayers.
With Florida already boasting a budget surplus, the governor wants to return nearly $1 billion in unneeded federal funds to help reduce the national debt.
