(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – In a set of emails to the mainstream media business network CNBC, Elon Musk, the world’s richest man with extensive business interests in Texas, said that he favors tight restrictions on the sale of so-called assault weapons and stricter background investigations of anyone purchasing a gun.
Musk’s statements to CNBC come one day after yesterday’s mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, leaving 19 school children and two adult teachers slain in the classroom where the killer barricaded himself before being killed by a Border Patrol agent.
In the emails to CNBC, Musk blames the media for providing too much coverage of mass murderers. He believes they crave that attention, saying, “Regarding recent events, the shooters are obviously doing this to generate the most attention possible. Why is the media doing exactly what the mass-murderers want?”
Musk stated that he supports “tight background checks” for all gun sales and that sales of assault weapons should be restricted to people with special circumstances, like gun range owners or people residing in “high-risk locations, like gang warfare.”
Musk made his statements while at the same time claiming to support the Second Amendment, saying, “I strongly believe that the right to bear arms is an important safeguard against potential tyranny of government. Historically, maintaining their power over the people is why those in power did not allow public ownership of guns.”
