(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – More than half of the voters of the Democratic Party are against President Joe Biden’s running for reelection, a new public opinion poll has found, defying his supporters’ hopes that a “Joementum” may gain traction.
Over the past month, some Democrat figures and media reports have been speaking of a “Joementum,” a presumed recovery in Biden’s standing inside the party if not an improvement of his ratings with the American public, The Washington Times reported.
That has been underpinned by what have been described as several “legislative wins,” such as the passage of the $737 billion Inflation Reduction Act. Over that period, Biden has also issued some executive orders to meet the expectations of the electoral core of the Democrats.
A new poll by USA Today and Ipsos, however, has discovered that 56% of Democrat voters believe it would be a bad idea for Joe Biden to run for reelection.
“This sentiment holds true across all age groups and ideologies within this group of voters,” the pollster said, noting that more than half of the Democratic Party supporters think “it’s time for a change within the party.”
The remaining 44% of the Democrats support a Biden candidacy for a second term in the White House.
At the same time, though, 60% of the Democrat voters polled are convinced that Joe Biden will be able to win a second term if he gets the presidential nomination of the party in 2024.
The results from the USA Today/Ipsos poll may indicate even Biden’s recent “legislative wins” may not have helped him to reverse the tide of discontent inside the Democratic Party with his job performance so far.
The public opinion poll was conducted between August 18 and August 22 among 1,031 voters of the Democratic Party. It has a margin of error of 3.7 percentage points.
Its results appear to align with findings of other recent surveys showing that most Democrat voters wouldn’t be happy to see Biden nominated again and running for another White House term.
A New York Times and Siena College poll released on July 11 showed that 64% of the Democratic Party supporters would like to see a different face replacing Biden in 2024.
Another poll by USA Today and Suffolk University, released on July 29, discovered that exactly 50% of the Democrat electorate would prefer to see Joe Biden remain a one-term president.
