Georgia Indictment Clock Ticking for Trump?

(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – Former President Donald Trump could come under a new legal attack from the left as a Georgia grand jury is considering indicting him for allegedly trying to change the outcome of the 2020 presidential election in the state, according to reports.

The US Justice Department has already indicted the leading contender for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination on 37 charges over alleged classified papers mishandling.

He is expected to face dozens of extra charges in that case and/or a second DOJ indictment.

Manhattan’s far-left DA Alvin Bragg has also charged the former president with financial crimes.

A grand jury was seated in Georgia on Tuesday to decide whether Trump and his allies could face criminal charges “for their efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss” in the state, The Associated Press reports, as cited by The Washington Times.

The potential indictment would result from an investigation by Fulton County’s Democrat District Attorney Fani Willis into a call that Trump made to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in early 2021.

During the call, the then-president allegedly suggested the state’s top elections official could help him “find 11,780 votes” to beat Joe Biden in Georgia.

The 2.5-year-long probe has included examining election fraud claims, “a slate of Republican fake electors,” and “phone calls by Trump and others to Georgia officials” after the 2020 election.

The Georgia investigation against Trump already had a seated grand jury between May 2022 and January 2023 which issued subpoenas to about 75 witnesses and other evidence but didn’t have the power to indict.

Part of the grand jury’s report was released in February, but the judge overseeing it kept any recommendations for charges secret.

A panel foreperson said the former jury recommended multiple indictments but didn’t reveal any names.

In 2022, Willis sent letters to former Trump ally and lawyer Rudy Giuliani and “the state’s fake electors,” warning them they could face charges. Some “fake electors” have since made immunity deals with the DA’s office.

According to the report, Willis might use Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, which allows prosecutors “to bring charges against multiple people that they believe committed separate crimes while working toward a common goal.”
