(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – In a critical development for the 2024 election race, Republican Senate Minority Whip John Thune of South Dakota has amassed a substantial sum of over $1.75 million in support of Donald Trump’s campaign and various Republican candidates across the United States.
This financial achievement came just before Thune’s scheduled participation in two significant fundraising events set for Wednesday in Washington, DC, as exclusively reported by The Daily Caller.
Thune, who is currently a contender for the position of Republican Senate Minority Leader—a role currently held by Mitch McConnell—is actively involved in fundraising efforts tied to the “Trump 47” campaign events.
These events, which were scheduled to occur on Wednesday, also prominently featured Ohio Republican Senator and Vice-Presidential nominee JD Vance.
The funds raised from these events are earmarked for the Trump campaign and to aid Republican Senate candidates in their electoral races.
Further reporting revealed that Thune has successfully raised over $28 million in support of Senate candidates and the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC).
In a notable financial move last Tuesday, Thune disclosed to his fellow GOP Senators his plan to transfer a record-setting $4 million from his campaign coffers to the NRSC.
This transfer is the largest of its kind by a Senate Republican, surpassing the previous record of $2 million, which was also set by Thune, according to a source speaking to The Hill.
One of the key fundraising events in Washington, DC, on Wednesday, included a high-ticket dinner and reception with Senator Vance, with entry priced at $100,000 per couple.
Additionally, Thune was slated to participate in another fundraiser organized by the NRSC, which was to feature a roundtable discussion with various GOP Senate candidates.
Tickets for this roundtable event were marketed at $50,000 each.
During a conversation with the Caller, Thune expressed the urgency and strategic importance of these fundraising efforts.
“We have got to change the course of this country and put an end to the dangerous Harris-Schumer agenda, and that begins with electing a Republican majority in the Senate and re-electing President Trump. Republicans are united heading into November, and we’re doing everything we can to help the team,” he stated emphatically.
He further emphasized the critical role of financial resources in conveying the Republican message.
“In order to secure the border and restore sane fiscal policies, we have to get our message out — and that is where these resources come into play,” Thune added.
