(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – In a warning to Donald Trump, Republican US Senator Lindsey Graham has insisted that the former president should stick to policy debates rather than “showmanship” in order to win the 2024 presidential election.
Former President Trump possesses the potential to secure a victory in the upcoming election; however, his success hinges on emphasizing substantive policy over mere theatrics, according to Graham.
On NBC News’ “Meet the Press,” the South Carolina Republican expressed, “His policies are good for America, and if you have a policy debate for president, he wins. Donald Trump the provocateur, the showman, may not win this election.”
Furthermore, Graham mentioned that he, alongside former US Ambassador Nikki Haley—who has similarly urged the Trump campaign to concentrate on policy matters—should offer guidance to Trump directly on contesting Democrat nominee Kamala Harris, rather than merely through television interviews.
“I don’t look at Vice President Harris as a lunatic,” Graham noted.
Yet, he contends she adheres to “the Soviet Union playbook to lower prices,” a strategy he deems a “nightmare” for her to justify in terms of her social policy decisions.
“Every day we’re not discussing her policy decisions as vice president and her potential actions as president represents a favorable day for her and a disadvantageous day for us,” Graham asserted.
He called upon figures like himself, Haley, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin to actively campaign for Trump rather than solely providing advice.
Graham also expressed his anticipation for Trump to actively engage in the remaining 80 days of the campaign to articulate his plans for America, particularly to “fix the broken border and to lower inflation.”
He highlighted the harsh economic realities under Harris and President Joe Biden, such as increased costs for gas, groceries, and mortgages.
“That’s what I would focus on. Policy is the key to the White House — 50% increase in gas prices, and mortgage rates going through the roof,” he stated.
Despite the press conference last week, which was supposed to concentrate on the economy, Trump reiterated his belief in his right to launch personal attacks.
“I don’t have a lot of respect for [Harris’] intelligence, and I think she’ll be a terrible president. I think it’s very important that we win, and whether the personal attacks are good, bad, I mean, she certainly attacks me personally,” Trump declared.
