( – In a new “sore loser” outburst, former Republican US Rep. Liz Cheney has gone after former US Attorney General Bill Barr for his comments that voting for President Joe Biden in the 2024 election would be a “national suicide.”

Barr has made his remarks about Biden despite his long-standing conflict with former President Donald Trump, the most likely GOP challenger for the White House incumbent.

Cheney (R-WY), who lost her congressional seat to a Trump ally, expressed strong disagreement on Sunday with former Attorney General Bill Barr’s assertion that choosing Biden in the election would be akin to “national suicide.”

“I know, he’s absolutely wrong,” Cheney remarked during her appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“Now I haven’t endorsed anybody in this presidential race, certainly would never support Donald Trump. And we know what Donald Trump will do, because he’s telling us every day and anybody who has spent any time overseas, who has spent any time studying history of autocracies, and of autocrats knows we have to listen to what Donald Trump saying,” she asserted.

When CNN’s Jake Tapper inquired about Barr’s recent statement that voting for Trump is like playing Russian roulette with the country, but voting for Biden is outright national suicide, Cheney firmly rejected his analysis and reiterated her refusal to back Trump.

“So electing Donald Trump’s not Russian roulette electing Donald Trump would mean putting in power a man who’s committed to unraveling our constitutional framework. So Bill Barr is just wrong on that,” she further elaborated.

Tapper also broached whether Cheney is considering a presidential run herself.

She remained non-committal about supporting Biden in the event of a repeat of the 2020 election matchup in November.

“I haven’t made any decisions about it yet and I’m gonna do whatever is necessary to defeat Donald Trump,” Cheney stated.

“I’m not gonna make any announcements or endorsements this morning. But the most important thing is to defeat Donald Trump and I’ll do whatever, whatever it takes to do that,” she added.

Cheney has left open the possibility of a third-party presidential campaign but has yet to announce any decision.

Her criticisms of the former president have been especially pointed since she lost her re-election bid, following her participation in the select House committee investigating the January 6, 2021, events at the US Capitol.
