(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – Playing to the stereotype that leftists love and thrive on government regulation and taxes, United States Senator Elizabeth Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat, has entered the fray over Elon Musk’s attempt to purchase Twitter and reform it into a social media platform that promotes free speech for all.
Appearing on MSNBC, Warren was explicitly asked by a show host, “You have warned about the growing power of big tech. What do you see in Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter?”
Warren responded:
“I see that we need to make two big changes. The first one is we need a wealth tax in America. Let’s talk about how Elon’s purchase here was subsidized by tens of millions of people who have paid their taxes every year. The second part is we need rules of the road for big tech. But ultimately, what all of this boils down to is power. Who’s going to have the power in our country? Are we going to make these decisions as a democracy, or is this going to be Elon Musk all by himself off in a room, a bazillionaire who just plays by his own set of rules, and that’s really what’s at stake here.” [emphasis added]
As at least one political analyst noted, in her statement, Warren makes it clear that she does not believe in private ownership. She seemingly believes that Twitter — which Musk intends to take private — belongs to everyone.
Warren is arguing that even if Musk purchases Twitter and takes it private, the government, on behalf of “democracy,” should be able to tell Musk what he can and can’t do with the social media platform he will have paid billions of dollars to acquire.
