Mass Shooting With Multiple Dead and Police Officers Shot

( – BREAKING NOW: The Farmington, New Mexico Police Department has reported that a minimum of four individuals, including the suspected shooter, were killed in an event involving an active shooter on Monday.

In a message on social media, the police shared that there were multiple civilian casualties, with at least three individuals confirmed dead.

The department revealed that the suspected individual was neutralized at the location of the incident. The identity of this individual is not yet known.

Two officers, one from Farmington’s local police and another from the New Mexico State Police suffered gunshot injuries. According to the department, they are in stable condition at the San Juan Regional Medical Center.

Various law enforcement entities are responding to the situation. These include the Farmington Police Department, the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, the New Mexico State Police, and the Phoenix branch of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

According to The Durango Herald, the shooting incident occurred around 11 a.m. near Brookside Park.

The authorities have closed down Dustin Avenue between Ute Street and Apache Street for the ongoing investigation, the police reported.

Roberto Taboada, the spokesman for Farmington Municipal Schools, reported that four local school locations were placed under lockdown until just before 1 p.m. due to nearby police activity. These locations were Apache and McKinley elementary schools, Central Kitchen, and the CATE Center. Taboada declined to provide additional information regarding the nature of the police activity.

Shortly after the lockdown, the school district announced that preventative measures had been lifted at these schools, and all students were allowed to leave.

Taboada reassured everyone that all students and staff at the Farmington schools were safe and had received meals. He said, “Everyone at Farmington schools — the students and the staff — they’re all safe, and they’ve been fed.”
