The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a 911 call from a distraught father around 3:36 a.m. Wednesday.
He found his three-year-old daughter suffering from multiple stab wounds at the Villa Del Sol Apartment Homes.
Tragically, the toddler was pronounced dead shortly after at Sunrise Hospital.
Authorities arrested Marketta Phillips, 41, charging her with open murder.
Phillips, who may have been living in the apartment, had a history of run-ins with the law, including a recent Legal 2000 mental health crisis hold.
Investigators continue to probe Phillips’s relationship with the girl’s father.
