As every American Patriot knows, United States House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is a billionaire because of being married to a billionaire who has traded on Pelosi’s powerful positions in Congress to enrich himself for decades and, by extension, his wife.
Further, as every American Patriot knows – or should know – members of Congress get insider information that will impact specific stocks and the stock market itself long before the average Joe and Jane hard-working American.
By way of example, many House and Senate members have made a fortune during the pandemic by buying and selling stocks impacted by COVID-19 – using information they obtained during closed-door briefings from companies involved in manufacturing products designed to combat the virus.
Now comes the news that yesterday, when Pelosi was challenged about the fact that congressional members and their staffers trade stocks in the fashion discussed above, she scoffed at reporters.
Specifically, when questioned if she’d be in favor of prohibiting members and staffers from trading stock, she replied, “This is a free market, we are a free-market economy, they should be able to participate in that.” [emphasis added]
Finally, even the few rules that impact those working on Capitol Hill regarding owning and trading stocks aren’t even followed. As Business Insider points out in a new report:
“At least 182 of Capitol Hill’s most influential and highest-paid staffers have blown past deadlines to detail and disclose their personal stock trades — violating a federal conflict-of-interest law in the process, an Insider analysis of congressional financial documents reveals.”
What do you think? Hit reply on the email with this post and tell us if you believe members of Congress and their staffers should be prohibited from trading stocks. Thank you and have a good evening.
Pelosi, says lawmakers/Capitol staff shouldn't be prohibited from trading stock: "This is a free market, we are a free market economy, they should be able to participate in that."
