(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – Most Republican voters favor former President Donald Trump for their party’s 2024 presidential pick over Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Trump has a 30-point lead over DeSantis, a new poll has revealed.
The results from the poll run counter to several reports in recent weeks claiming that DeSantis is catching up with Trump in terms of popularity among the GOP electorate.
Trump, the 45th President of the United States, has spent the last 1.5 years dropping strong hints that he will seek the 2024 Republican nomination and another White House term.
On the other hand, DeSantis is presently up for reelection as Governor of Florida in November and hasn’t even hinted that he might want to take a shot at the GOP nomination in 2024.
Trump enjoys the support of 53% of all Republican voters to run for President of the United States once again in two years, according to the results of a new public opinion poll by Politico and Morning Consult.
What is more, a total of 66% of the Trump supporters told the pollster that they are “absolutely certain” in their choice.
Another 19% said they are “very certain,” and 13% answered they are “somewhat certain” – for a combined total of 98% with a higher degree of certainty about favoring Trump.
DeSantis, in turn, came in second, with the backing of a total of 23% of the GOP voters – and 54% of those said they are “absolutely certain.”
None of the five other potential bidders for the 2024 presidential nomination of the Republican Party got double-digit GOP voter support.
The highest rated among those is Trump’s former Vice President Mike Pence, with 7% support, followed by Texas US Senator Ted Cruz with 3%.
The fifth spot is shared by former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, Utah US Senator Mitt Romney, and anti-Trump GOP Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming.
Each of these potential seekers of the 2024 presidential nomination of the Republican Party gathers about 2% of the votes.
The poll also found that only 38% of the registered Democrat voters approve of President Joe Biden’s job performance, while 58% disapprove.
Even worse for Biden, only 22% of the Democrats think America is moving on the right track on his watch, while 78% say the opposite.
The Politico/Morning Consult poll was conducted between July 15 and July 17 among 877 potential voters in Republican primaries and 840 likely voters in Democrat primaries. It has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
