(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – In a tremendous new embarrassment to Kamala Harris, she and her campaign have made a tacit admission that her running mate, Tim Walz, lied about his military service on his bio, as the Harris campaign has quietly expunged a reference to him as a “retired command sergeant major.”
The Harris campaign discreetly amended the biography of Democratic Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on Thursday, The Daily Caller reports.
This revision follows scrutiny from Republican critics who pointed out that while Walz was conditionally promoted to that rank, he did not complete the requisite training to hold it permanently before his retirement as a master sergeant in 2005.
According to a statement from the Minnesota National Guard provided to Just the News on Wednesday, Harris’ website had previously labeled Walz as a “retired command sergeant major” until at least Thursday morning, as evidenced by an archived version of the webpage.
The updated biography now accurately states that he once held the position of command sergeant major, but does not imply that he retired with that rank.
“[Walz] retired as a master sergeant in 2005 for benefit purposes because he did not complete additional coursework at the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy,” stated Army Lt. Col. Kristen Augé, a public affairs officer for the Minnesota National Guard.
“The Soldier must complete the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Course as a condition of this promotion. Failure to meet the condition will cause demotion per AR 600 – 8 – 19,” according to Army regulations.
Initially, Walz’s biography on Harris’ campaign website described him as “the son of an Army veteran and a retired Command Sergeant Major in the Army National Guard himself,” according to an archived copy.
The current rendition of the site, however, describes him simply as “the son of an Army veteran who served as a command sergeant major.”
Further complicating Walz’s narrative are allegations that he retired from the Minnesota National Guard prematurely to evade deployment to Iraq, a claim vehemently denied by Democrat strategists.
Nevertheless, Walz acknowledged the likelihood of his battalion’s deployment to Iraq in materials for his congressional campaign released prior to his retirement, as reported by the Washington Free Beacon on Wednesday.
“When your country calls, you are supposed to run into battle — not the other way,” retired command sergeant major Thomas Behrends, who succeeded Walz and was deployed to Iraq, told the New York Post on Tuesday.
“He had the opportunity to serve his country, and said ‘Screw you’ to the United States. That’s not who I would pick to run for vice president,” Behrends added.
