(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – US Senator Rand Paul has attacked Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, who is expected to indict former President Donald Trump, blasting him for his “disgusting abuse of power.”
Paul’s accusations against Bragg come amid reports that the Manhattan DA’s office is preparing an indictment against Trump over a 2016 “hush money scandal,” which involves porn star, Stormy Daniels.
Then-Trump lawyer Michael Cohen paid Daniels $130,000 to keep quiet about a sexual affair she and the future president allegedly had in 2006.
In a social media post, Trump predicted that he would be arrested on Tuesday, March 21, and urged his supporters to protest. That arrest did not happen but could come any day.
In a Twitter post on Tuesday, Republican US Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky scolded Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, whose election was funded by leftist billionaire George Soros.
Paul insisted that the leftist DA should be held to account and “put in jail” for abusing his power by engaging in possibly politically motivated actions against Donald Trump, Newsmax reported.
“A Trump indictment would be a disgusting abuse of power. The DA should be put in jail,” the GOP senator wrote.
His strong-worded accusations come as many Republicans are rallying to back the former president and speaking out about the danger coming from Soros-backed DAs.
Trump has described his widely anticipated indictment by the Manhattan DA’s Office as “political prosecution” and “persecution.”
Among those who dwelled on the actions of prosecutors funded by George Soros was Florida’s Republican Governor, Ron DeSantis, who is expected to challenge Trump for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination.
“The Manhattan district attorney is a Soros-funded prosecutor, so he, like other Soros-funded prosecutors, weaponize their office to impose a political agenda at the expense of the rule of law and public safety,” DeSantis commented earlier this week.
“He has downgraded over 50% of the felonies to misdemeanors. He says he doesn’t even want to have jail time for the vast majority of crime. So what we’ve seen in Manhattan is the crime rate go up and citizens become less safe,” Florida’s governor added.
“If you have a prosecutor who is ignoring crimes happening every single day in his jurisdiction and he chooses to go back many, many years ago to use something about porn star hush-money payments, that’s an example of using a political agenda and weaponizing the office,” DeSantis said further.
“I think that’s fundamentally wrong. I also think it’s worth pointing out these Soros-funded prosecutors, yes, they may do a type of political prosecution and that’s bad, but the real victims are ordinary New Yorkers and ordinary Americans in various jurisdictions they get victimized every day because of the reckless political agenda these Soros-funded prosecutions bring to the job. These Soros-funded district attorneys are a menace to society,” the governor concluded.
Republicans close to Trump, such as his eldest son Donald Trump Jr. have been unhappy that DeSantis condemned Soros-funded DAs instead of the specific likely indictment of the former president.
