(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – In a move that has outraged many parents and social conservatives, the public school system in Portland, Oregon, is teaching transgender ideology and “gender fluidity” to kindergartners – and it has defended its decision.
A leaked PowerPoint presentation revealed that Portland Public Schools is telling young children in its kindergarten classes that girls can have penises and boys can have vulvas, among other things.
The “transgenderism for kindergartners” slides were posted on Twitter by Christopher Rufo, a fellow at the conservative Manhattan Institute.
They prove that the Portland school district is implementing a grade-by-grade curriculum starting with children aged 5, in which they are taught about transgender ideology and sexual orientation.
A significant part of the program is also the alleged role of “white colonizers” in the “marginalization” of LGBT people.
“Any kid can have any type of body,” states the PowerPoint presentation. And it claims that boys can have vulvas and girls can have penises.
One of the slides also shows a cartoon depiction of male and female genitalia, but those aren’t labeled as “boy” or “male” and “girl” or “female.” Instead, the labels read, “Person with a penis” and “Person with a vulva.”
A Portland Public Schools spokesperson quoted by The Washington Times defended teaching transgender ideology to kindergartners as young as five.
The spokesperson said in an email that the district’s curricula on “health, gender, and sexuality are aligned and consistent with anti-bias education and Oregon law.”
“We make certain that our curriculum is LGBTQ+ inclusive for students who identify as transgender, gender non-conforming, gender-queer, and queer to create a safe and inclusive environment for all of our students,” the school district representative said.
The spokesperson added that students’ families have a legal right to “opt-out” of “any part of a sex education class.”
