(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott has started shipping illegal immigrants to Chicago after busing illegals to other major Democrat-run communities such as New York City and Washington, DC.
The first busload of about 65 illegals arrived late Wednesday night at Chicago’s Union Station. Abbott’s office announced they were sent from Del Rio, Texas, as cited by The New York Post.
New York City and Washington, DC, are among the so-called “sanctuary cities,” which discourage strict enforcement of immigration laws, and so is Chicago. Even so, local officials such as NYC Mayor Eric Adams have complained about Abbott’s move.
“To continue providing much-needed relief to our small, overrun border towns, Chicago will join fellow sanctuary cities Washington, DC, and New York City as an additional drop-off location,” Texas Governor Abbott said about his latest shipment of illegal immigrants.
He then took a jab at Chicago’s Democrat Mayor Lori Lightfoot over her illegal immigration stance.
“Mayor Lightfoot loves to tout the responsibility of her city to welcome all regardless of legal status, and I look forward to seeing this responsibility in action as these migrants receive resources from a sanctuary city with the capacity to serve them,” the Republican Governor of Texas declared.
He began busing illegal immigrants out of Texas in April with shipments to the nation’s capital. The bussing to New York City started in June.
So far, Abbott’s program for bussing illegal immigrants out of the border state of Texas has incurred a combined total cost of $12 million – meaning that each illegal’s one-way trip to the East Coast has cost about $1,300.
The program uses Texas taxpayer money and funds from private donors.
The NY Post report claims that the migrants shipped out by Abbot should not technically be considered “illegal” because they are the ones who have been given legal permission to remain in the US while the federal government evaluates if they can be granted asylum.
However, the fact remains that they violated the national border and territorial integrity of the United States and entered the country illegally.
A report in mid-August said that almost 5 million aliens had done the same over the first 1.5 years of Joe Biden’s presidency – including 3.4 million apprehended at the Southern Border, about 500,000 caught at other entry points, and an estimated more than 900,000 gotaways who snuck in undetected.
Texas Governor Abbott’s office has made it clear that the bussing program is voluntary, and those illegal immigrants can get off the busses whenever they want.
