With only one week until inauguration day, President-elect Joe Biden, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democrat lawmakers are making it clear that the unity that Biden had called for during and since the election was nothing more than a campaign slogan. “Unity” as they understand it seems to mean destroying any conservative voice and sending Republican voters to reeducation camps.
Sadly, there have been no overtures of peace coming out of the left, as they prepare to take over both the executive and legislative branches of the government. If anything, they are making it eminently clear that they aren’t interested in working with their colleagues across the aisle and that they don’t really need them. Considering that they have a slim majority in the House of Representatives and only a tie-breaking vote from the Vice-president-elect in the Senate, one would normally expect them to be seeking some sort of cooperation from Republicans. But it seems that they intend to ride roughshod over the minority party, ignoring anything they might want in return.
Speaker Pelosi’s push to impeach President Trump for the second time, based not on what he said, but on what left-leaning reporters have said that he said, is a perfect example. With such a short time between now and inauguration day, it seems to be a waste of effort and a slap in the face of everyone who voted for Trump.
Let me be clear here; President Trump did not call for anyone to storm the capitol building or break in. I’ve read a transcript of his words, and all he said was “Let’s walk down Pennsylvania Avenue to the Capitol building. It takes a real stretch to turn that into inciting violence.
Perhaps Pelosi’s gambit would be more believable, if she hadn’t spent the last four years trying to get rid of Trump. It has clearly become a personal vendetta for her, an exercise in politics that ignores what is best for the country. This attitude shows what we can expect for the next four years.
The rancor goes beyond Trump himself, with a number of companies turning against anyone who has worked with Trump or in his administration. A number of people are now facing difficult times, as their livelihoods are being destroyed by the hatred of the left.
In addition to this, there have been a number of statements from Democrat politicians, essentially calling all Trump supporters or Republicans racist. It’s the same old game they play, using intimidation and name calling to control the dialogue. Only now they have the upper hand in all areas; the presidency, Congress, the media, education and tech.
The next two years are going to be interesting ones. It’s time to start preparing now to take back over Congress in 2022.
