(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – On Christmas Day, tragedy struck Wakefield, New Hampshire, when four people were found dead in their home, suspected victims of the ‘silent killer.’

This heartbreaking event highlights the deadly danger of carbon monoxide poisoning (the silent killer), especially temperatures in Wakefield on Christmas Day dipped to 13 degrees Fahrenheit.

Without proper detectors, carbon monoxide remains undetected, posing a lethal threat.

The police responded to a welfare check afternoon and discovered the bodies of four adults upon arrival.

The home, lacking carbon monoxide detectors, proved fatal for two older and two younger adults. Authorities link the deaths to a gas heating system, emphasizing the importance of proper safety measures.

Family members had notified the police after the victims did not appear at a Christmas gathering, leading to the tragic discovery. The names of the deceased will be released pending notification of next of kin.

“While the investigation remains active and ongoing, at this time, investigators believe the victims died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning,” New Hampshire State Fire Marshal Sean Toomey said.

While autopsies are scheduled this week to confirm the cause of death, authorities underscored the necessity of heating system checks.

They also urged the installation of carbon monoxide detectors to prevent similar losses.

Toomey lamented the tragic event, remarking, “It’s a terribly tragic event. It comes in a year we’ve had a tough year in general for carbon monoxide deaths and fire fatalities in our state. I really hope to make it through the holidays without another death.”

A similar incident happened in October, claiming the lives of an elderly couple in Bedford. These cases reveal a persistent hazard that must be addressed with utmost urgency.
