(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – After he was arraigned in a Manhattan court last week on multiple financial crime charges, former President Donald Trump will be back in New York City this week to be interrogated under oath in a different investigation.
On April 4, Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 charges over an alleged 2016 bribe to porn actress Stormy Daniels to keep her from publicly claiming that she and the then-presidential candidate had an affair in 2006.
The case was initiated by Manhattan’s Democrat District Attorney, Alvin Bragg.
According to a New York Post report, citing law enforcement sources, Trump would have to go to NYC this week “to be grilled for the second time” by New York’s Democrat state Attorney General, Letitia James.
James is investigating the business practices of the former president’s business empire, the Trump Organization.
The report notes that Trump is expected to “plead the Fifth” Amendment, that is, to refuse to give answers to questions that could incriminate him.
According to reports, the 45th president of the United States was already interviewed by Letitia James’s office in the same investigation last year and repeatedly used the Fifth Amendment.
Police sources told the Post that Donald Trump is due for question by the New York Attorney General’s prosecutors in her Manhattan offices on Thursday morning.
Thus, he is expected to fly to New York City from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on Wednesday night.
After he was arraigned last Tuesday, the former president and 2024 presidential candidate left New York City the same day, returning to Florida.
His arrival in the Big Apple on April 4 came after “weeks of security preparations” and was marked by street protests, “a flood of cops in hot zones and street closures,” the report points out.
It notes further that Trump’s new visit to Manhattan could mean a “replay” of those events and “even more headaches for New Yorkers.”
NY AG Letitia James claims there has been “staggering fraud” within the Trump Organization.
Last year, in a $250 million civil lawsuit, she accused Trump, his children Donald Jr., Eric, Ivanka, several others, and his real-estate company of artificially inflating the company assets to procure more favorable loan and insurance deals.
James opened an investigation into the Trump Organization in 2019 after Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen implicated him and his company during congressional testimony.
In 2020, the New York Attorney General alleged that the Trump family and Trump administration officials were “stonewalling” her probe, so she filed a lawsuit to gain access to records and depositions.
The Post’s report that Donald Trump would be in Manhattan for a second deposition with James was not confirmed by his civil lawyer or the New York AG’s office.
