Trump Scores an Endorsement

(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – Republican US Rep. Cory Mills of Florida has become one of the earliest political figures to endorse former President Donald Trump in the 2024 White House election.

Mills, a veteran of the US Army who served in Iraq, is a freshman US House of Representatives member from Florida’s 7th congressional district.

He argued that Trump should win another four years in the White House, after which Florida’s Governor, Ron DeSantis, should step up and go for a two-term presidency.

Mills’ endorsement of Trump came in an interview with Time magazine against the backdrop of Trump’s recent arraignment by a New York City court at the initiative of Manhattan’s Democrat DA, Alvin Bragg.

“I think that what’s happening in New York is a very unifying event,” he told Time.

“We need to stop the infighting and come together and unify. And I think right now the person that we need to be unifying behind is President Trump,” the Iraq War veteran added.

Mills argued that if more Florida Republicans throw their weight behind Trump, that could cause Florida Governor Ron DeSantis not to run in the 2024 contest.

DeSantis has not announced his White House candidacy officially but reports claim he might do so in May, after the end of the state legislature’s spring session.

Mills revealed he discussed with Trump hosting an event for announcing several endorsements of the latter by Florida lawmakers and other public figures.

“[That would] hopefully encourage our governor to keep being an amazing governor and running our state,” the freshman US Representative declared.

“And then later, after the president finishes his four-year term, step up to keep the tiller in the right direction for the next eight years. America needs 12 years of leadership — not four and not eight,” he insisted.

Mills has become the fourth Florida US House member who endorsed Trump in the 2024 race, after Reps. Matt Gaetz, Byron Donalds, and Anna Paulina Luna.

“There is only one leader at this time in our nation’s history who can seize this moment and deliver what we need to get us back on track, provide strength and resolve, and Make America Great Again. That is why I am honored to endorse President Donald J. Trump for president in 2024,” Donalds declared in a statement.

Meanwhile, Luna told Time that she supported both Trump and DeSantis but that the latter should wait out a potential second Trump administration.

“I think we need someone who will be aggressive on foreign policy, and that’s Trump. You know, this is politics, you’ve got to pick your sides. I think that he’s the person that we need right now for this country,” she stated.

“To be clear, I love them both. [DeSantis is] my governor, and I’m going to support him every step of the way as governor,” Luna added.

“I do think that DeSantis, if he waits, has a really bright future. But I think right now, with what we need for the country, I think it’s Trump,” concluded the GOP lawmaker.
