(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has slammed Kamala Harris’ intelligence and personal traits but admitted that he does not believe these attacks are necessary for winning the election in November.
“Well, I don’t think she’s a very bright person. I do feel that. I mean, I think that’s right. I think I am a very bright person, and a lot of people say that,” Trump said about her intelligence.
He added, “I don’t think she’s a very bright person. And you know what? Our country needs a very smart person, and I don’t think she’s a very smart person.”
When asked if targeting his opponent’s intelligence and personal characteristics was part of a winning strategy, Trump said, “No I don’t think so,” and shifted to criticizing her policy record.
Furthermore, supporting his view that Harris is “not bright,” Trump stated. “I looked at the things that she said. I looked at the way she deals. I looked at her record, her crazy record. I look at her policies.”
The former president underscored that the current administration’s job is bad, referring to the economy and inflation. He also said that he loved America and he would do what it takes to win.
“I have to get this country going, because we’re going to lose our country,” he added.
At recent events, Trump has criticized Harris for her appearance, racial identity, and mental fitness for office. Many conservative commentators have advised him to focus on her policy positions instead of personal attacks.
Republicans have urged Trump to focus more on policy differences as Harris gains ground in the polls, especially in battleground states.
The Hill/Decision Desk HQ polling index currently shows the Democratic nominee leading Trump by 3 points — 49.4% to 46.4%.
