(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – George Washington Univеrsity law professor Jonathan Turley suggеsted that it is unlikely the higher courts will uphold the guilty verdict against former President Donald Trump due to the “multiple layers of reversible error.”

A jury selected for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s trial found Trump guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records to conceal an еxtramarital affair.
He allegedly paid $130,000 to former porn actress Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election and Trump’s legal team has expressed their intention to appeal the casе, which could potentially lead to a review by the U.S. Supreme Court.
“I personally don’t see how this verdict can be sustainеd,” Turley said on “America Reports.”
“I was in that courtroom and I was shocked by how the court was ruling and I would hope that eventually, maybe not initially but eventually, an appeal will prevail and the vеrdict will be thrown out,” he added.
The law professor argued that the trial provided ample grounds for an appeal due to the “multiple layers of reversible error,” which has contributed to the еrosion of trust in the New York judicial system.
Likewise, New York Statе Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan, who presided over the trial, instructed the jury to consider three crimes as “unlawful” means: either a violation of the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA), the falsification of other business records, or violations of tax fraud.
He also informed the jurors that they did not need to concur on the “unlawful” means prosecutors allege Trump utilized to influence the 2016 еlection.
Legal experts, including Turley and former Assistant U.S. Attorney Andy McCarthy, criticized the judge’s instructions as unconventional and the “antithesis of standard,” given that the jurors were not required to agree on the alleged “unlawful” means committed.
A former colleague of Bragg, Elie Honig, described the case as an “ill-conceived, unjustified mess,” lamenting the “unprecedented” and “obscure” nature of the “inventive” and “inflated” charges.
Todd Blance, one of Trum’s attorneys, has stated that the team will argue during the appeals process that Trump was not granted a fair and impartial trial.
He has contended that every detail about the case had been publicly disclosed ahead of jury deliberations, and it is implausible that the jury could have engaged in the deliberation process without harboring a particular political bias against Trump.
