UPDATE: Congress Investigating STAR Member

(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – A bipartisan Capitol Hill committee is currently examining Matt Gaetz, the star Republican congressman and ardent supporter of Donald Trump, in relation to longstanding claims of sexual misconduct, illicit drug use, and other potential ethical violations,

Tuesday’s disclosure by the House Ethics Committee, which is composed equally of Democrats and Republicans, rekindled a series of controversies surrounding the forthright Trump advocate after a previous criminal probe into the allegations was concluded without charges.

In a formal statement, the committee revealed that it had engaged with numerous witnesses, issued 25 subpoenas, and perused thousands of pages of documentation as part of its ongoing investigation into Gaetz’s behavior, initially launched in April 2021.

Following this comprehensive review, the committee determined that certain allegations warranted additional scrutiny, The Guardian reports.

“The committee is reviewing allegations … that Representative Gaetz may have: engaged in sexual misconduct and illicit drug use, accepted improper gifts, dispensed special privileges and favours to individuals with whom he had a personal relationship, and sought to obstruct government investigations of his conduct,” the statement outlined.

It was noted that other allegations against Gaetz—specifically those involving the sharing of inappropriate images or videos on the House floor, misuse of state identification records, improper personal use of campaign funds, and acceptance of a bribe—were no longer under investigation.

Gaetz responded to the committee’s actions with a preemptive post on X, accusing the committee of engaging in baseless pursuits and drawing parallels to Soviet-era tactics.

“The House ethics committee has closed four probes into me, which emerged from lies intended solely to smear me,” he declared.

“Instead of working with me to ban congressional stock trading, the ethics committee is now opening new frivolous investigations. They are doing this to avoid the obvious fact that every investigation into me ends the same way: my exoneration,” the congressman added.

“This is Soviet. Kevin McCarthy showed them the man, and they are now trying to find the crime. I work for north-west Floridians who won’t be swayed by this nonsense, and McCarthy and his goons know it,” he commented further.

This remark pointed to his adversarial relationship with McCarthy, the former Republican House Speaker who was ousted in an internal party coup led by Gaetz last October.

Despite Gaetz’s denial of all charges and his assertion of being targeted unfairly, the committee expressed concerns about the difficulty in obtaining necessary information from him and others, hinting at less than complete cooperation.

“The committee notes that the mere fact of an investigation into these allegations does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred,” the committee said.
