(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – Many rank and file Republicans are now furious at United States Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) because in a press conference today he defied both former President Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee by saying that what took place at the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, was “a violent insurrection with the purpose of trying to prevent the peaceful transfer of power after a legitimately certified election.”
You can watch the video of McConnell further down this post.
McConnell also denounced the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) censures of United States Representatives Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), saying it’s not the RNC’s job to pick and choose Republicans.
Questioned by a reporter about the RNC calling the events of January 6th “legitimate political discourse,” McConnell stated:
“Let me give you my view of what happened January the 6th. And we all were here. We saw what happened. It was a violent insurrection for the purpose of trying to prevent the peaceful transfer of power after a legitimately certified election from one administration to the next. That’s what it was.”
McConnell then addressed the censures of Cheney and Kinzinger, saying, in part, “that’s not the job of the RNC.”
