( – In a recent judicial proceeding in Michigan, the presiding judge faced an unexpected and perplexing situation involving a man who deserves to be described as the “world’s dumbest criminal.”

The case involved a man named Corey Harris, who was summoned to court due to allegations of operating a vehicle while his driver’s license was suspended.

This court session was conducted virtually from Ann Arbor on May 15, as reported by KTLA, cited by The Daily Caller.

The sequence of events took an unusual turn when Harris connected to the Zoom court session.

It quickly became apparent to District Judge J. Cedric Simpson that Harris was not only participating in the session but was also actively driving his car at that time.

The judge observed that Harris was wearing his seatbelt and appeared to be in motion.

Judge Simpson, taken aback by the scenario, inquired directly whether Harris was currently driving.

To this, Harris responded, “Actually, I’m pulling into my doctor’s office,” adding, “So just give me one second … I’m parking right now.”

This response was met with visible astonishment from Harris’ public defenders, who were also participating in the virtual court session.

Onlookers and other participants struggled to maintain their composure, with some attempting to stifle their laughter, a scene also noted in the KTLA coverage.

The incident raised immediate concerns about the nature of the charges against Harris.

During this session, Judge Simpson expressed his confusion and concern about the situation, stating, “Okay, so maybe I don’t understand something. This is a driving while license suspended [case], and he was just driving, and he didn’t have a license.”

The public defender confirmed the judge’s understanding, replying, “That is correct your honor,” as per a report from Fox 13.

As a consequence of Harris’ actions, Judge Simpson made the decision to revoke Harris’ bond. He further ordered Harris to report to the local county jail by the end of the day.

“I don’t even know why he would do that,” the judge remarked, perplexed by Harris’ judgment in this matter.
