War Is Coming?

(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – Almost half of all American voters consider Communist China an enemy of the United States and believe that there will be a war between the two powers, according to a new public opinion poll.

48% of adult Americans think the People’s Republic of China is an enemy of the United States, pollster Rasmussen Reports found in a new survey, as cited by Newsmax.

The number is an increase of 7 points compared with November, when 41% of Americans viewed China as an enemy.

The poll was conducted between February 5 and February 7. The former was the day the US Air Force shot down a Chinese spy balloon off the coast of South Carolina after the espionage apparatus had floated over US territory all the way from Alaska.

China’s authorities have claimed that the airship is a weather balloon that veered off course. They also declined a US government request to hold a secure telephone call between US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and China’s Defense Minister Wei Fenghe.

Instead, the Chinese government submitted an official complaint to the US Embassy in Beijing, insisting that America violated international law by destroying the balloon.

The new Rasmussen poll discovered that while a near-majority of Americans are convinced that China is an enemy, 36% of US voters believe that it is something “between being an ally and an enemy.”

At the same time, an even greater share of respondents – 38% – think that a war between the United States and Communist China is unlikely over the next five years.

According to the survey, 47% of Americans rate President Joe Biden’s handling of China-related issues as poor, while 34% believe that he has done a good or excellent job.

In party affiliation terms, the poll found that 66% of Republican voters consider China an enemy of the United States, as do 46% of those not affiliated with a major party.

At the same time, a significantly smaller share of Democrats – 33% – view the People’s Republic as an enemy.

A roughly similar division along partisan lines is visible regarding whether the United States will have to fight a war with China in the next five years.

That view is helped by 58% of Republican Party supporters compared with 44% of Democrats. Among independents, only 40% expected war in the next five years.

The Rasmussen Reports poll was performed among 900 voters nationwide and had a margin of error of 3 percentage points, with a 95% confidence level.
