‘We Need to Protect Women’s Sports’

BOXING GLOVES

(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – In resistance applauded by social conservatives across the globe, the International Boxing Association (IBA) has stood firm in its decision to disqualify two arguably male boxers claiming to be female who, however, have been allowed to compete in women’s boxing in the Paris Olympics by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Algerian boxer Imane Khelif and Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-ting have been disqualified from IBA competitions after both failed an unspecified sex-identification test, despite facing criticism from the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The IOC countered by allowing both athletes to compete against women at the Paris Olympics, highlighting a divergence in policy between the two organizations – and leading to outrageous fights in which the two males crushed female opponents.

At the 2023 IBA Women’s World Championships, Khelif and Lin were barred from competing due to the results of gender-eligibility tests, yet the IOC permitted them to compete against female opponents during this summer’s games, citing that both boxers are legally recognized as female in their respective passports.

The disqualification of Khelif became particularly contentious following her match against Angela Carini of Italy, which ended abruptly when Carini withdrew just 46 seconds into the bout after sustaining a severe facial injury.

This incident amplified concerns that the IOC’s decision compromised the safety of female athletes by allowing them to face competitors who might have substantial physical advantages.

It should be noted that neither Khelif nor Lin has publicly identified as transgender.

During a press briefing, several IBA officials reiterated the disqualification outcomes, though specifics regarding the nature of the sex-identification tests were not disclosed, National Review reports.

Dr. Ioannis Filippatos, the IBA’s former medical chair, was definitive in his statement to the press, asserting that Khelif is male and endorsing the IBA’s decision to exclude the boxer from the women’s championship as a protective measure for the integrity of women’s sports.

“We need to protect women’s sports, and we know how to protect them,” Filippatos stated.

Despite acknowledging that he could not definitively state whether Khelif was biologically female, Filippatos stood by the gender tests conducted.

“The medical result and the laboratories say that this boxer is male. I have seen this result. We are not against Khelif, she is a very good boxer,” he said.

“In this case, we need the boxer to collaborate with the laboratories. She is a very good boxer, but as a doctor, I need to protect the women’s category,” he added.

The IBA, led by Umar Kremlev who is known for his connections to Vladimir Putin, has come under intense scrutiny due to its financial dealings with Russia—a relationship that has further fueled the controversy surrounding the gender eligibility dispute.

The IOC had previously severed the IBA’s Olympic accreditation in 2019, largely due to these connections.
