FBI Opens Terrorism Investigation

The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force launched a formal investigation after discovering disturbing indicators at the scene of Sunday’s mass shooting outside Buford’s Backyard Beer Garden on Austin’s West 6th Street.

Acting Special Agent Alex Dorn from the San Antonio Field Office stated that “indicators on subject and in vehicle indicate potential nexus to terrorism,” though authorities cautioned it remains too early to confirm a definitive motive.

The discovery of Islamic religious paraphernalia and Iranian national symbols raises serious questions about potential radicalization and foreign influence that Americans deserve answers about from federal investigators.

Calculated Attack on Entertainment District

Nda Diagne, a 53-year-old naturalized U.S. citizen originally from Senegal, executed what appears to be a premeditated assault on Austin’s crowded nightlife strip. Beginning around 1:30 a.m., the suspect circled the West 6th Street block multiple times in his SUV before parking in front of the bar and activating his hazard lights.

At approximately 2 a.m., he opened fire with a handgun from his vehicle window, targeting patrons on the outdoor patio. He then drove to Wood Street, exited with a rifle, and continued shooting at pedestrians walking along the entertainment district.

Swift Police Response Saves Lives

Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis detailed how officers responded within 55 to 56 seconds of the initial gunfire, engaging and fatally shooting the suspect at an intersection before he could claim more victims. The rapid response likely prevented additional casualties in the packed entertainment zone where hundreds of Americans were enjoying their weekend.

Despite law enforcement’s heroic actions, three innocent people lost their lives and 14 others suffered injuries, with several remaining in critical condition. This tragedy underscores the ongoing threat posed by individuals who embrace radical ideologies hostile to American values and our way of life.

Disturbing Symbols Raise National Security Questions

Photographs obtained by media outlets show the suspect wearing explicit religious and foreign nationalist symbols during the attack. The “Property of Allah” hoodie and Iranian flag design on his undershirt, combined with a Quran discovered in his vehicle, paint a troubling picture of possible Islamist radicalization.

While authorities have not officially confirmed the suspect’s identity or verified all details, multiple credible sources consistently report these facts. The Iranian connection particularly concerns national security experts, given Iran’s documented support for terrorist organizations and ongoing hostility toward the United States and its allies.

The suspect’s background as a naturalized citizen who previously resided in New York City before moving to Pflugerville, Texas, raises additional questions about vetting processes and domestic radicalization networks.

Americans who fought against Biden-era open borders and lax immigration enforcement warned repeatedly about national security vulnerabilities. This incident follows a disturbing pattern of violence on Austin’s Sixth Street entertainment strip, an area plagued by recurring crowd-control issues that local bar owners attribute to permissive policies and inadequate security standards at certain establishments.
