VIDEO: Pelosi Attacks Gaetz

(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – In highly disparaging remarks against the backdrop of internal GOP strife, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi attacked Republican U.S. Representative Matt Gaetz as an insignificant figure – after Gaetz announced he would attempt to remove current Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

You can see a video of Pelosi’s attack further down this post.

Pelosi (D-CA), who remains a House member, appeared on the CNN program “State of the Union” Sunday, after earlier on the show, Gaetz (R-FL) vowed to file a motion to vacate against his fellow GOP speaker.

Gaetz’s announcement came after, on Saturday, McCarthy backed compromise bipartisan spending legislation to avoid a government shutdown as of October 1, which passed against the opposition of 90 out of the 221 Republican representatives.

Speaking after Gaetz and before Pelosi on the same CNN program, another Democrat, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), declared she would vote to remove McCarthy.

83-year-old Pelosi, who was speaker from 2007-2011 and 2019-2023, did not answer directly when asked if she would support the Florida Republican’s motion to vacate.

“You’re wasting your time on that guy because he has no sway in the House of Representatives, except to get on TV and raise money on the internet,” she told CNN host Jake Tapper of Matt Gaetz.

When Tapper wondered what advice she would give the other House Democrats on whether to depose McCarthy, the former speaker told them to “follow the leader” – referring to her successor in the party, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).

“Hakeem Jeffries has done a great job yesterday. We had a victory in the continuing resolution. It was a victory for Democrats, a defeat for the MAGAs,” Pelosi said, as cited by The Washington Times.

She blasted the Republicans for allegedly giving tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans while seeking to slash Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children.

“It’s such a fraud when they [Republicans] say this is about spending. These are people who gave a tax cut to their richest people in America to the cost of $2 trillion to our national debt when ‘what’s his name’ was president of the United States… and that was to give 83% of the benefits to the top 1%,” Pelosi said, seemingly referring to Donald Trump.

“It’s not about the budget. It’s about a values debate,” the former speaker concluded.
