(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – Determined to protect and strengthen the border, the state of Texas has taken legal action against the Biden administration over a recent policy involving wire barriers along the border.
Texas filed a lawsuit against the federal government, alleging that federal agents have been actively destroying wire barriers placed by the state along the border. According to the lawsuit, the motive behind this policy is to “encourage and assist thousands of aliens to illegally cross the Rio Grande and enter Texas.”
This legal move comes after Texas’ Republican Governor, Greg Abbott, directed state officials to deploy barbed wire along the border to counteract a rising number of illegal border crossings.
The lawsuit contends that “By cutting Texas’s concertina wire, the federal government has not only illegally destroyed property owned by the State of Texas; it has also disrupted the State’s border security efforts, leaving gaps in Texas’s border barriers and damaging Texas’s ability to effectively deter illegal entry into its territory.”
Further commenting on the matter, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton stated that Texas possesses “the sovereign right to construct border barriers to prevent the entry of illegal aliens.”
He went on to express his dismay at the Biden administration’s policy, asserting, “Americans across the country were horrified to watch Biden’s open-border policy in action: agents were physically cutting wires and assisting the aliens’ entry into our state. This is illegal. It puts our country and our citizens at risk. The courts must put a stop to it, or Biden’s free-for-all will make this crushing immigration crisis even worse.”
Multiple key entities and figures within the U.S. border administration, including the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), have been named as defendants in this lawsuit.
It’s also worth noting that in September, a Daily Caller News Foundation reporter observed immigrants expressing gratitude to Border Patrol agents after they assisted in cutting through the wire.
Mark Morgan, the former acting CBP Commissioner, stated, ”I want to be crystal clear – what’s happening is not the fault of the men and women of the U.S. Border Patrol. They have been thrust into an untenable no-win chaotic situation. Place blame for the lawlessness at our borders where it belongs – the Biden Administration.”
Recent data from the CBP revealed that September witnessed a record number of border encounters.
