In a development that threatens global stability, Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, claims countries are prepared to supply Iran with nuclear weapons following U.S. President Donald Trump’s strike on Iran’s nuclear sites.

Medvedev’s alarming comments were made via Telegram on June 22, 2025, asserting that Trump’s attack on Iran has started a new war.
The U.S. strike involved 75 precision-guided munitions designed to cripple three critical Iranian nuclear facilities.
However, both Iranian and Russian leaders downplayed the effectiveness of the assault, suggesting Iran’s nuclear capabilities remain largely unharmed.
The response from Israel was swift, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirming the coordination of efforts with the Israeli Defense Forces.
Netanyahu mentioned, “Do you remember that the operation was beginning, I promised you that Iran’s nuclear facilities would be destroyed, one way or another. This promise is kept.”
Yet, the situation remains volatile, with Iran launching counterattacks on Israeli targets, including Ben Gurion Airport.
Iran downplays the attack’s impacts, reportedly evacuating critical materials from sites such as Fordow before the strike.
Medvedev argues the U.S. actions only fueled Iran’s nuclear ambitions, reinforcing their leadership position.
Russia, alongside China, condemns the U.S. military action as a breach of international law and the U.N. charter.
“In the wake of President Donald Trump’s strike on Iran’s nuclear sites Saturday, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said Sunday that “a number of countries” are ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear weapons,” UPI reports.
Adding fuel to the fire, Iran calls for an urgent U.N. Security Council meeting to address what it sees as unprovoked aggression.
Meanwhile, Pakistan, despite its alliance with Iran, has not yet received requests for military support but strongly condemns the United States’ actions.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) plans an emergency meeting to evaluate the situation, with no immediate health risks reported.
Yet, as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict rages on, the high death toll and resource shortages in Gaza demonstrate the broader spiraling chaos from this unfolding crisis.
The actions in the Middle East are a clear display of military might but bring into question the long-standing strategy of diplomatic engagement.
