Federal officers acted swiftly after Reyes sent a chilling handwritten note.
Meanwhile, Secretary Kristi Noem underscores the ongoing threat posed by those crossing our borders illegally.
Removal proceedings for Ramon Morales Reyes began following his arrest in Wisconsin.
ICE officers arrested Reyes on May 22, after his letter, threatening Trump’s life, came to light.
As a repeat border offender, having entered the U.S. illegally nine times, this raised significant concerns over the nation’s border security policies.
Critics argue that this case highlights systemic issues with border control as Reyes, a 54-year-old Mexican national, managed to enter the country numerous times between 1998 and 2005.
His rap sheet includes charges of felony hit-and-run, disorderly conduct, and property damage, raising questions about enforcement adequacy.
The alarm was raised by the letter to an ICE officer, where Reyes referenced President Trump using a .30-06 rifle and blaming Trump for negative impacts on Mexicans due to his policies.
“I will self deport myself back to Mexico but not before I use my 30 yard 6 to shoot your precious president in is head – I will see him at one of his big ralleys [sic],” Ramon Morales-Reyes wrote, cited by Fox News.
These revelations mark an urgent need for a renewed focus on border security and sovereignty.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem was quick to assure that authorities take threats against President Trump seriously.
She highlighted the necessity of protecting Trump at all costs and urged both the media and politicians to reduce harmful rhetoric.
Her statement insisted on the urgency of curbing unlawful entries into the country.
“This threat comes not even a year after President Trump was shot in Butler, Pennsylvania and less than two weeks after former FBI Director Comey called for the President’s assassination. All politicians and members of the media should take notice of these repeated attempts on President Trump’s life and tone down their rhetoric. I will continue to take all measures necessary to ensure the protection of President Trump,” declared Secretary Kristi Noem.

The shocking threat by Morales Reyes follows other recent incidents seen nationwide, with similar threats leading to arrests in both Texas and North Carolina.
These incidents underscore the growing risks associated with poor border control and inadequate enforcement of immigration policies.
As the situation develops, the deportation proceedings will play a critical role in reaffirming lawfulness and maintaining order.
