(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley has called on House Republicans to put an end to the turmoil caused by the removal of Rep. Kevin McCarthy as Speaker and swiftly select a new leader.
During an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Haley emphasized the need for unity and a focus on pressing issues.
She stated, “We need to get united. We need to focus on the issues that are facing us, and we need to do that now. There’s no time to waste.”
House Republicans are set to convene to deliberate between two candidates for the speakership: Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan of Ohio and Majority Leader Steve Scalise of Louisiana.
Ms. Haley cautioned her fellow Republicans not to respond to Democratic chaos with internal disarray, saying, “I would remind Republicans: Don’t chase Democrat chaos with Republican chaos.”
She stressed the urgency of addressing national security concerns, the financial struggles of many Americans, rising crime rates, educational deficiencies, border security, and the threat posed by China.
McCarthy’s removal as Speaker was supported by eight conservative hardliners and all House Democrats.
The effort to oust him was led by Rep. Matt Gaetz, a Florida Republican, which resulted in a halt to the chamber’s normal legislative activities.
