Hunter Throws Down the Gauntlet

(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – Scandalous First Son Hunter Biden has tried to up the stakes in the House Republicans’ investigation into President Joe Biden’s family by offering to testify in a public Oversight Committee hearing rather than a private deposition – only to see his offer snubbed immediately.

Hunter Biden’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, presented the offer in a letter to House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY).

The letter was in response to the panel’s November 8 subpoena for a closed-door testimony by the first son, National Review reports.

“We have seen you use closed-door sessions to manipulate, even distort the facts and misinform the public. We therefore propose opening the door… rather than subscribing to your cloaked, one-sided process,” Lowell wrote in the letter sent Tuesday.

“Your Committee has been working for almost a year — without success — to tie our client’s business activities to his father,” the lawyer added, as cited by The New York Post.

“[A]ll your focus has been on this President’s family while turning a blind eye toward former President [Donald] Trump and his family’s businesses, some of which the family maintained while serving in office — an area ripe to inform your purported legislative pursuits,” he elaborated.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Comer issued a swift response in a statement, making it clear that Hunter Biden is mandated to appear for a private deposition next month, whereas a public hearing was possible after that.

“Hunter Biden is trying to play by his own rules instead of following the rules required of everyone else. That won’t stand with House Republicans,” the Republican lawmaker declared.

“Our lawfully issued subpoena to Hunter Biden requires him to appear for a deposition on December 13. We expect full cooperation with our subpoena for a deposition but also agree that Hunter Biden should have opportunity to testify in a public setting at a future date,” Comer added.

It is noted that President Biden’s brother James, 73, had been subpoenaed by the committee for December 6. The panel has also demanded depositions from Biden family associate Rob Walker, former associate Tony Bobulinski, James Biden’s wife Sara, Hunter’s sister-in-law and former lover Hallie Biden, Hallie’s sister Elizabeth Secundy, and Hunter’s current wife Melissa Cohen.

“The House Oversight Committee has followed the money and built a record of evidence revealing how Joe Biden knew, was involved, and benefited from his family’s influence peddling schemes,” Now, the House Oversight Committee is going to bring in members of the Biden family and their associates to question them on this record of evidence,” Comer said in his subpoena announcement earlier this month.
