(TheLastPatriotNews.com) – Former President Trump has targeted Senator Mitt Romney (UT-R), an anti-Trump Republican and a failed former presidential candidate, as a “total loser,” as he has also endorsed Romney’s potential successor.
Trump threw his weight behind Trent Staggs, the mayor of Riverton, Utah, to replace Romney, after Romney made it clear he would retire.
“Trent Staggs is 100% MAGA, and is running to fill The Mitt Romney, a Total Loser, Seat as the next Senator from the Great State of Utah!” Trump declared in his Saturday post, cited by The Hill.
“A Highly Successful Entrepreneur, who has served brilliantly as Mayor of Riverton for the past six years, Trent knows how to Create Jobs, Stop Inflation, Grow the Economy, and Secure the Border,” Trump’s post elaborated.
“As your next Senator, Trent will help us Unleash American Energy, Support our Military/Vets, and Protect our always under siege Second Amendment. Trent Staggs has my Complete and Total Endorsement – He will be a GREAT Senator, and never let you down!” the former president added.
Romney, who often critiques Trump, announced his impending retirement from the Senate at the conclusion of his term in September.
“I have spent my last 25 years in public service of one kind or another. At the end of another term, I’d be in my mid-eighties,” Romney articulated in a press release.
“Frankly, it’s time for a new generation of leaders. They’re the ones that need to make the decisions that will shape the world they will be living in,” he added.
Staggs, serving as the mayor of Riverton, Utah, was the initial Republican to declare his candidacy for Romney’s Senate seat earlier in May and has labeled the incumbent senator a “Massachusetts millionaire.”
Staggs expressed his gratitude for Trump’s endorsement in a post on the social platform X on Saturday.
“I’m honored to have the endorsement of Donald Trump!” Staggs stated.
In his latest jab at the former president, Romney declared last week that he had no doubt that Trump had bribed adult film actress Stormy Daniels in order to cover up an extramarital affair.
It is over such allegations that Trump has been charged with 34 counts of financial fraud by Manhattan’s Democrat DA Alvin Bragg.
